This Week, In A Nutshell: As the summer heats up – so to does California’s CCPA, which is being enforced as of July 1st, despite requests to delay. While Hong Kong’s strict new security law is causing a deep erosion of autonomy in the former British colony,

China seems to have stymied a second wave of coronavirus. China could also stand to benefit from a trade war with India, while Japan is figuring out how to deliver goods untouched by humans. Angeka Merkel and Germany have their work cut out for them as the new leaders of the EU, and the UK plans go forward with Brexit in December – deal or no deal. In the US, small businesses have another opportunity to apply for emergency loans, while the presidents of the US and Mexico will be meeting in a rare face-to-face get-together July 8th and 9th.
